Population inversion by chirped pulses

چکیده
In this paper, we analyze the condition for complete population inversion by a chirped pulse over a finite duration. The nonadiabatic transition probability is mapped in the two-dimensional parameter space of coupling strength and detuning amplitude. Asymptotic forms of the probability are derived by the interference of nonadiabatic transitions for sinusoidal and triangular pulses. The qualitative difference between the maps for the two types of pulses is accounted for. The map is used for the design of stable inversion pulses under specific accuracy thresholds.

Molecular “p Pulse” for Total Inversion of Electronic State Population
Theoretical analysis leads us to the intriguing conclusion that nearly complete electronic population inversion of molecules can be achieved with intense positively chirped broadband laser pulses, as a combined result of vibrational coherence and adiabatic inversion. Strong field quantum calculations demonstrate inversion probabilities of up to 99%. The results are robust with respect to change...

Of particular interest is the early response of the molecule and the 7 solvent, which is difficult to study due to the ambiguity in assigning and differ8 entiating interand intra-molecular contributions to the electronic and vibrational 9 populations and coherence. Our measurements compare the yield of fluorescence 10 for two laser dyes IR144 and IR125 as a function of chirp. Whil...
متن کاملControl of Decoherence with Simple Chirped Pulses
Selective control of decoherence is demonstrated for a multilevel system by generalizing the instantaneous phase of any chirped pulse as individual terms of a Taylor series expansion. In the case of a simple two-level system, all odd terms in the series lead to population inversion while the even terms lead to self-induced transparency. These results also hold for multiphoton transitions that d...

We investigate theoretically the high-order harmonic spectrum extension and numerical generation of an intense isolated attosecond pulse from He+ ion irradiated by a two-color laser field. Our simulation results show that the chirp of the fundamental field can control HHG cutoff position. Also, these results show that the envelope forms of two fields are important factors for controlling the re...
